the experience
Our clients have lived in this 1966 SW Portland home for thirty plus years. When they contacted us the kids were grown and it was time to rethink the best use of the space for their next phase and furnish accordingly. In addition, one of the clients, Lynn, is a landscape designer and she was ready to create her own garden. She asked us to design the transition from the house to the outdoors, establishing the site lines so that she could design with those interior views in mind.
We converted the barely used living room to a light and modern media room with a custom wall-mounted bamboo cabinet that provides a clean solution for hiding the tv. Lynn was using the dining room to produce beautifully hand drafted drawings, but she didn't have any place to put her things away. We solved the problem with a custom light table with storage for pencils, drawings and drafting tools. It doubles as an elegant buffet when they are entertaining. The furniture is a mix of modern classic design and custom solutions tailored to the very specific needs of this couple. The scope included paint, lighting, adding skylights, and refinishing the floors.
the feedback
“Jenni Leasia far exceeded our expectations for the redesign of our living room and dining room areas. These rarely-used rooms are now the spaces we use and enjoy the most. The unused living room became a welcoming mid-century sunken entertainment hub. The dining room was transformed into a great area for entertaining in the evening but quickly transforms into an office drafting and work space with abundant storage. Jenni and her team listened when we said we wanted to keep the design compatible with the 1960's feel of the house, helped us create a strong indoor-outdoor relationship with the garden, kept us informed throughout the process and coordinated with the contractors installing the project. Our remodel was completed 6 years ago and we are now preparing for the next round of improvements in another area of the house. We plan on having Jenni recreate these areas and look forward to working with her. Jenni is experienced, thoughtful and listens. All great qualities when you are making a major investment!”
