The Experience
These clients divided their time between New York and Madrid and wanted to add Portland to the mix. The brief was to renovate and furnish this spacious waterfront condo to make it beautiful and comfortable for themselves, parents and a steady stream of guests.
In the near term, her parents would be living in the condo so the floor plan and materials needed to accommodate aging-in-place. In the longer term, they plan to spend more time here and we wanted to update and refresh the space with furniture, art and materials that reflect their contemporary aesthetic.
Working around common roadblocks in condo remodeling, we were able to redesign and update the kitchen; and install new flooring, lighting and furniture that create a more visually open space and maximize natural light. The sage green in the kitchen backsplash tile is reminiscent of traditional Korean ceramics, giving a nod to the family’s heritage. The creamy textured wallpaper wrapped around the fireplace adds dimension and brightens the living area. We rounded out the space with custom furniture and pillows with accents of golds, greys, greens and reds to create a neutral, but warm environment for soaking in the waterfront views.
The Feedback
“We love our newly renovated condo in downtown Portland. It was a multiplex job in that it required pleasing the tastes and needs of differing generations of family members all from afar. Jenni completely understood the task at hand which resulted in exquisite finishes and beautiful, ergonomic furniture at reasonable price points when requested. She always went the extra mile thinking of things we hadn’t thought of like lighting and general usability reinforced by bringing in an impeccable contractor - all of which added class and that much more to love.
Thank you Jenni and team!”
