essential seo tips
Retain old URLs: If you’re switching in new pages to replace old designs, try to retain the original URL wherever possible (e.g. a new Service page should continue to use the URL https://www.jennileasiadesign.com/services (not /services-1) so as to retain ‘SEO juice’ accrued. I have replaced all new pages’ URLs with original ones, and changed old ones to, e.g. /services-old. Please do the same moving forwards.
Images Size: Images should be no bigger than 500KB for optimal loading speed and Google ranking. Big banner images should be around 2000px wide. Bulk Resize Photos is a great site for reducing image sizes while retaining quality. You can also batch resize images to save time.
Image Titles: Use keywords for all image titles, for example, ‘Portland Interior Design Kitchen Remodelling’ (think about what people will put into Google Search - location and service type is key).
Page Titles / Descriptions: Please check the Settings of each active page, and make sure you have keyword rich Page Titles and Descriptions (if you’ve done this in the ‘General’ tab, there’s no need to add to the ‘SEO’ tab). Google prefers each page description to be slightly different.
SEO Site Description: You may also want to update your site description (go to Marketing > SEO). You could, for example, remove ‘explore our portfolio’ and add more keywords for services and locations (it should still read naturally though as Google picks up on keyword-cramming!)
Delete ‘dead’ pages: Aside from it being easier for you to manage, Google favours sites that aren’t cluttered with redundant / irrelevant pages.
